Just had this one a couple of nights ago, it was double decanted (as is my usual way).

Neagles Rock Cabernet 2001

Deep red purple with ruby highlights and has lovely sweet blackcurrant nose with very gentle mint. The palate is medium weight but with full blackberry, blackcurrant sweetness and a smooth, gluggable texture. Cigar box nuances support clean, ripe and grippy tannins. Nothing complex as yetbut 5yrs may see something come out of the depths. Just the same, it is a delight now and on that 90/100 (for now)and at $18 btl will be buying more

cheers all,

I visited Neagles Rock just after Easter and thought they were right up there with the best VFM in Clare. Certainly a winery worth watching.

Yeah thanks for that Graham. My wife really quite liked their Reisling at such a low low price and I wasn't going to even consider trying any others, but then my curiousity got the better of me. I don't think I could drink the Cab every day, just a wee bit too sweet for me but it is a very interesting change to my normal preferences.

cheers,
