TN: Whicher Ridge 'Elevate' Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

G'day
I've been a fan of this small winery - technically in the Geographe wine region, but just north of the Margaret River region. They make an interesting Viognier, and I especially enjoy their Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnays. The winery also hosts a fascinating Sensory Garden, which matches flowers and herbs with the flavours and aromas inherent in the wines.
At ten years old, this Cabernet is crimson in colour, and shows signs of lightening over time. Voluminous nose full of blackberry, cedary oak, a little vanilla, mocha, coffee grounds and a hint of tobacco. The palate shows some cranberry alongside the darker fruits, and is quite juicy and broad/mouthfilling. Tannins have integrated quite well, and provide a little grip without being obvious. Medium to long finish.
Probably at its peak, but will hold. I still have a couple more bottles of this vintage, and will open the next one in a few months.
Cheers
Allan
