TN: Howard Park Allingham Chardonnay 2017

G'day
The Allingham vineyard is in the southern part of Margaret River (Karridale). This wine is the top chardonnay in the HP portfolio, and receives the best of care in the winery. 2017 was a relatively cool vintage for Margaret River.
Medium to deep yellow in colour. Complex nose which combines oak elements (hazelnut, cedar) and developing fruit characters (white peach, nectarine) alongside some orange blossom. The palate has more of these fruit characters, along with a little citrus on the back palate. Oak recedes into the background a little, and acid is present and supportive without any sharpness. Considerable length and excellent balance overall.
This is an excellent chardonnay from what might be considred a lesser vintage for Margaret River. Possibly at or near its peak, but no rush to drink up.
Cheers
Allan
