G'day

This is the 21st vintage of this wine, and I was fortunate to attend the 21st birthday party at the winery. I've been a fan of John Griffith's shiraz for a few year now, and these are annual "must buys".

Deep purple black in the glass. Powerful nose of licorice, dark chocolate, black plums and berry fruits, a little tar, and plenty of cedary oak. The palate carries many of these characters through, with a richness and velvet texture, a little like molten chocolate. There's some olive and cloves in there also, and the tannins are grippy but not dominant.

The balance is superb, and this bodes well for the future. I am assured that Faber's Reserve Shiraz has a long life (20+ years), and from a couple of older vintages generously opened last night, I have no doubt that this 2021 vintage will do likewise.

Cheers
Allan
