TN: Ashbrook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2013

G'day
I hosted a vertical ofthis wine in 2020 https://forum.auswine.club/viewtopic.php?p=1 ... et#p162721, and this was the tasting note at the time:
Ashbrook Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2013 (Cabernet Sauvignon 77%, Merlot 10%, Cabernet Franc 6%, Petit Verdot 7%) 14.5% alc
Purple in colour. Blackcurrant, black olive and dried oregano on the nose along with some leather and smoked meats. Definite signs of development, especially the fruit flavours. The palate is reasonably full and pronounced, with almost tangy red fruits on top of the drying tannins and acid. Medium- to full-bodied.
This is a wine I buy 6 or more of every year. Nearly 4 years on, it was time to look at another one.
Colour is still purple black. This has hardly changed in the intervening years. The fruits (isn't olive a fruit?) and herbal characters remain, along with some cedary oak, savoury notes and leather. The palate has red and blue/black fruits, a supple texture, and good supporting tannins and acid. Full bodied, and with some elegance - not full-throttle
This is in an excellent place now.
Cheers
Allan
