G'day

This wine was decanted 3 hours before service, and returned to the cellar (on yet another bloody hot day in Perth). So, hopefully it's now being consumed at the temperature of a moderate afternoon in Burgundy :)

Crimson colour and translucent. A stalky / sappy nose with dark cherry, forest floor / mulch, fennel and nutmeg. The palate shows brighter cherry and cranberry, with barely noticeable tannins and unobtrusive acid. Linear entry and the wine fills out more towards the finish. Reasonable length and pleasing finish.

I can't guess as to the potential longevity of this wine - I think it's fine in the short term, but would appreciate comments from people with more experience.

Cheers
Allan

Incidentally, I had a Domaine Faiveley Pommard 1er cru "Les Rugiens" Joseph Faiveley 2000 then other night. Longevity with Faiveley is on the very long side. Mecurey I’m not sure. But if you had to decant the wine there you go. The Pommard was superb. As was every other aged and once modest Old World wine on the night. All I’d have bought for $50 on release. Included were - 2007 Vougeraie Vougeot 1er Cru Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot Monopole, 1989 Graud Larose, Fratelli Alessandria Barolo 2005, Paitin Barbaresco 1978 and a magnum of champagne Thienot 2007. All super performers.

FWIW, the 2005 vintage of this wine is drinking well, although I wouldn't say that 2016 will necessarily follow suit. However, I'm sure you would be safe for at least the next five years.
