Regular readers of my scribblings may have noticed that Poliziano has featured heavily in my tasting notes for Italian wines.

My recent trip to Italy did not include Montepulciano the town, but I still managed to sample several Vino Nobiles nonetheless, and some of these have already featured in posts on this forum. It also prompted me to attempt to source some of the wines in AUstralia, with mixed success. One of the successes was a quantity of the 2018 vintage.

Bright crimson/ruby in the glass. Dark cherry, cocoa powder, thyme and a touch of leather on the nose. The palate is rich without being heavy, with sour cherry, more leather, mocha, and dried mixed herbs. Tannins are drying, and acid is supportive and lively. Good length and long-ish finish. Perhaps not the greatest Poliziano vintage I've tasted (the 2016 and 2019 probably have that title), but a very good one nonetheless.

Cheers
