Hi Guys.
Still sorting out my shit and never noticed this before.
Same wine, same vintage but different labels and capsules.
Any thoughts.
Cheers Con .

Can you please elaborate on differences. Light can change hues. Were they bought together? Can't make out vintage.

Hi Con,
I think they are both different vintages.

The bottle on the right is a 1996 vintage and the one on the left I think is a 2006. Have a good look at it again.

Both are 1996.
Paper looks and feels different.
Font and size of logo look different on the capsule.
Cheers Con.

Can’t really tell from here how different these are. If you have ever read the enormous thread about Rudi on wineberserkers, then paper and font differences are give aways when it comes to fraud. Also, there was someone in Sydney who apparently bought millions of dollars worth of fakes, and who know how they got rid of them.
If the defense of the wines though
- late releases will have the current capsule and label, so there can be differences between bottles releases at different times
- some producers have different labels for different markets (Ramonet for instance)
- this is a super 2nd from a good vintage, but it’s not a rare wine and not a vintage the silly money is spent on l. Why bother making a fake ?
I’m not sure how much checking the auction houses do here, but I would hope they would be able to spot fakes from the real thing. just put it in and see what they say.
I actually have a bottle of 03 La Turque that I am convinced is a fake - lying with my mother in the UK and I’ll bring it back for the Melbourne group to try next time I go to visit her.

La Turque also doesn't seem like an obvious candidate to "bother" with? I.e. not a wine that's cheap but also not crazy amounts being spent on. What convinced you it's a fake?

Looking at them close up, I think the LH bottle has spent a longer time wrapped in tissue and probably out of light, possibly in the wooden box. RH bottle seems to have absorbed some atmospheric moisture and reacted with the label glue. Also, as evidenced by label nicks etc., it's been out of tissue and exposed to more light.

Guigal has gone a bit out of fashion now, but when I picked this up at Auction in the noughties, Robert Parker was still very influential and they were relatively more expensive than a lot of top Bdx and Burgs - The vintage slip looked looked like it had been reattached and there were a couple of other issues which I can’t remember any more. Guigal don’t (or didn’t then) have vintages on the corks and my feeling was that it may have been a leaser vintage rebadged as an 03.

Look Con, if you're really worried about them, I'd be happy to take them off your hands, no questions asked
I have a paltry single bottle of LLC in the cellar
cheers, Malcolm

Too late mate, most of what I posted on Wine Porn has been sent to auction.
Cheers Con.
