This highly regarded Swan Valley producer also steps out of the zone by sourcing fruit from other areas. The fruit for this wine was sourced from Dwellingup. 13.8% alcohol.

Light purple in the glass. Prominent earthy characters on the nose, along with cocoa powder, a hint of five spice, and soft red and blue fruits. The spice and juicy fruits persist through the palate, with integrated and barely noticeable tannins, and gentle acid. Medium bodied and round in the mouth, this is drinking well at 9 years of age, without any sharp edges at all. Unlikely to improve from here, however.

Cheers

My last bottle. Decanted immediately before service.

Still quite earthy on the nose, with cocoa powder and spices. Blue and red fruits are still there but diminishing.

The palate, however, is still quite vibrant, with juicy and almost tangy red fruits, and some viscosity apparent. Tannins remain gentle but noticeable (slightly grippy). Medium length and enjoyable.

Cheers
