This has been a long term favourite W.A. Shiraz for me. Usually a big wine too, and this is no exception. I hosted a vertical of this wine a few years ago, and the opinion at the time was that 10-14 years of age from vintage was the drinking window. This falls within that window. The wine was made from vines planted in the mid 1970s.

Deep purple in the glass. A heady nose with lots of chocolate, stewed plums, dark berries, cloves, cinnamon, and all the things you might expect from a warm climate shiraz. The palate is medium to full bodied, with soft acid, grippy but reasonably integrated tannins, and a velvety mouthfeel. There's a little aniseed alongside the dark fruits. Long finish, but overall not especially heavy on the palate (compared to the nose). In balance.

No rush to drink these - I suspect they will plateau for a while.

Cheers
