TN: Myattsfield Touriga 2016

G'day

This grape variety is commonly used in Portugal for port production; however, Myattsfield has made the occasional table wine from this variety since 2009. I've had solid examples from them up to 10 years old.

Dense deep purple in the glass. A demonstrative nose, with lots of licorice / aniseed, violets, blueberries, red fruits and a touch of mocha. The palate has more of the red and blue fruits, with soft tannins and good supporting acid. It's medium to full bodied, and has a linear flow of flavours along the tongue. Good length and palate weight.

An enjoyable wine with points of interest and difference. Probably at its best now.

Cheers
Allan
Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
