TN: Robert Bowen Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Robert Bowen is a W.A. winemaker with decades of experience with a number of producers. This comes ouit under his own label.
Purchased some years ago and for no apparent reason, rarely looked at. 10 years seemed like a good age to remember what the fuss was about at purchase.
Deep crimson in the glass, and almost opaque. Red rim. Intense blackcurrant and cassis nose, well developed, with savoury oak aromas, some graphite, a hint of leather polish and tar. The palate is full and plush, with the dark fruits accompanied by a touch only of raspberry or red currant. There's more savoury flavours that counteract the remaining fruit sweetness, and the overall impression is of a very dry wine. Tannins are fully integrated, and acid is freshening but not dominant. There's a touch of menthol or eucalypt on the back palate, and the wine finishes very long and full.
Not sure this will improve much if at all, but an impressive wine now.
Cheers
