G'day
Quite dark in the glass for a 15 year old wine. Rich and lifted nose (maybe a touch of VA) with juicy dark plums, blueberry, cloves, leather, allspice, and spicy oak.
The palate is rich as expected, with more of those dark fruits on the front and mid palate. There's some earthy elements as well. Tannins are drying without being chunky, and acid is supportive without dominating. Full bodies and long finihs - mouth-coating and dense.
There's a good balance between sweet (although developed) fruits and the savoury characters of development. I've not seen the wine before, so unsure if it's peaked or whether there's more left in the tank in terms of improvement. Definitely a big wine, and I'm looking forward to the eye fillet that will shortly accompany this.
Cheers
Allan
