TN: Cape Grace Chardonnay 2020 (Margaret River)

This is a winery I first visited in about 2008, primarily as my youngest daughter is named Grace, and she was with me on that visit. I've been buying their Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay from time to time ever since. I believe this wine came from what are now 27 year old vines.
2020 was a good year in Margaret River, in my opinion, and especially for chardonnay. This is medium yellow in colour. It shows ripe yellow peach, nectarine and honeydew melon on the nose, with some cashew nut in the background.
The palate has freshening acid towards the front, with the fruit characters focusing on the back palate and the finish. There's a little tannic grip, and a touch of vanilla. This is quite a well balanced chardonnay - reasonably full flavoured while still not being too heavy.
Should last for 5 years or so, without necessarily having great longevity.
Cheers
