I just changed my address so I’ve just got off the phone to Wendouree cellars.

Early July is the mail out though vintage 2020 is minuscule. Allocating the vintage will be difficult. Evidently 2022 plentiful.

Always the most fun thread of the year. Good luck to everyone. If there is not a lot to go around. I think tasting cases would be the way to go forward.

I hear from the local stationery shop that crayon sales are down 63%

Guess the Wendouree train will be pulling into the station this week...won't be many carriages

The interesting issue with this year’s Wendouree saga will be how so the divide up such a minuscule vintage? Are they drifting away from rewarding long term customers customers and including rewarding newbies?

I wouldn’t have thought this is the year they’ll do that. But hey, the newbies can only hope.

Yep, a shiraz, a cab malbec and a shiraz mataro. Better load up on Muscat of Alexandrina

I don’t think there is a Malbec? Nor will there be next vintage ( oddly there will be a Mataro only bottling )

How is 2020 rated quality wise? I’m tempted just to sit this one out.

I have received a small allocation the past 3 years but this year just received a polite rejection letter which informed me I will be back on the list next year.

Long term customer offered 6 each of 2020 Shiraz, Cabernet Malbec & Shiraz Mataro. $75, $70 & $60 respectively.

New crayon colour and note so not sure what it all means?

2nd year player here, just received this year's nicely worded knockback letter, stating with production of only 25tn that pricelists will only be sent to long term customers, and I will be retained on the list and advised when stocks from the 2021 vintage (yielding 45tn) are released in 2023. Disappointing but expected.

So the hunt for a reasonably priced bottle or two continues......

That's weird - my order form offers Shiraz, Shiraz/Mataro and Cab/Malbec. Are different people getting different order forms this year?

Sorry to hear that. As only a 4th year player (2018 green stamp), I kind of expect to receive the same letter. At least they aren't getting our hopes up with an order form only to have no chance of getting an allocation.

Update 9/7: I just received my knockback letter.

Shiraz, C/malbec, S/mataro...forms are all the same, just a black sig for me, no other markings

I have Shiraz, Shiraz Mataro and the Cab Malbec on my order form. QLD red

I had Shiraz, Shiraz Mataro and Cab Malbec on the form plus below.

MUSCAT OF ALEXANDRIA 2016/2017/2018
"A lightly fortified dessert wine, blended across three vintages, 2016, 2017 and 2018, all made from a 1940 Eastern vineyard planting (in 375ml bottles)"

I have the same offer for all 4 wines.

The 3 reds available are my favourite 3 and have ordered 6 of each. Red crayon and on the list since the 2006 vintage.

I’m not sitting this one out after checking general vintage quality is strong and the three wines offered are my favourite anyway.
I am currently in Scotland playing golf at the legendary Cruden Bay golf club. Brilliant!

I received my mail on 8/7/22, did not sent order form until 12/7/22, attempted to get 6 on all 3 reds (skipped Muscat), I’ve always preferred Shiraz Mataro over Shiraz Malbec, I still think their Malbec is better by itself.
