Heading up the Barossa and I thought I’d fly a drone and get some snaps of some famous vineyards. Any ideas? I know HofG and Mt Edelstone. Any other standouts? Steingarten is supposed to be with impressive backdrop.

Would Kalimna or Langmeil's 'Freedom' appeal?

Both have plenty of history, albeit different masters

Centenary Hill has a nice old solitary tree in the middle of it.

Thanks it’s a beautiful day for flying. 28 degrees and a wind out of the east that should be good for visibility on a cloudless day. Steingarten I’ll do first. Has a viewing platform now.

Don't forget Marco Criollo's Great Sandy vineyard.
Also hoffmann's & turkey flats ancestor.

Great link Rossco. I was out of time however managed :

1) Steingarten. Spectacular contrast to the sunburnt surround. Sitting high in the foothills.

2) Mt Edelstone. I don’t think I did Henschke any PR favours. My wine friends in Hong Kong were a bit underwhelmed.

3) Hill of Grace. Again, HK friends expected a heavenly sited vineyard. No Hill? Anyways I explained the history of the early settlers and their remarkable achievements. The Gnadenburg Church noble and beautifully maintained though hard to get a great shot airborne with a flattering snap of vines from a distance.

Yeah Steingarten would be on my must visit list as well!

Likewise, the contoured Grenache vineyards at Seppeltsfield, up the hill from the fermentation cellars, are quite stunning. Pity though that 'The Slug' is proposed to be built there.
Also, there are some terrific Adelaide Hills' vineyards worth some happy snaps - 'Tiers' in particular, Ashton Hills, Ngeringa and Pike and Joyce to name but a few.
