TN: Ashbrook Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

I believe this is the inaugural vintage of the 'reserve' release. I am a long time fan of their 'standard' Cabernet Merlot, which is now labelled as Cabernet Sauvignon as the other Bordeaux varieties are now less than 15 % of the blend. This wine also has small percentages of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
At 11 years of age, this is still developing. Lots of primary fruits, with blackcurrant, blackberries, blueberries and cassis to the fore. There's cedary oak, graphite, port cigars and a little black olive. The palate is velvety, with well integrated tannins, supportive acid and a little glycerol. The fruits are still the dominating feature, but there's complexity, and the wine finishes quite long.
Excellent balance.
