A Call to Wine Lovers near Bacchus Marsh VIC

Hi Guys,
I moved to Bacchus Marsh seven months ago. I'd love to find some local wine lovers for sharing terrific wine and (questionable?) conversations in this 'neck of the woods'. I'm sure we'd welcome both those new on the pathway from liking wine to being fascinated by wine, as well as my fellow wine obsessives.
My cellar's about 450 bottles, with lots of aged wines [10 years+] from $15 friendly drops to $150+ aged elites - all of which I love.
Please do throw your name into the post here, or private message me.
All welcome
John

Hi Softie!
I live in Melbourne but wouldn't mind a day trip out of the city for some relaxed wine affair. A weekend afternoon would be best for me.

Cameron,
Delighted to have a commuter come from Rotterdam to my Bacchus Marsh tastings. Well worth it.
Turn right at Singapore and it's the 967,413th place on your left. No need to bring any smelly cheese.

Smelly cheese is overrated. Smelly wine, however...

It’s Fairfield now John - I moved out of Southbank. I always try and bring some old Gouda though.

Hmm I feel you tried that, then moved to Melbourne and eventually found that living a bit further away from Australia's second best city was the best option...
Catch up one day soon mate, been too long between wines together.

Folks I just sent this PM. Post and message if you want to join us ...
Gents,
How about 2.30pm on Sat 6 March or 2.30pm on Sun 7 March for our first tasting? 14 Canterbury Drive Bacchus Marsh. Ph 0408 xxx xxx
Two wine varieties Riesling (young or old) and Shiraz/blends (lighter styles?). Please nominate one variety to bring. And bring a matching cheese or snack. I'll supply glasses and bread, butter, Olive Oil.
I recommend you leave elite wines for later tastings and aim to bring good but non-elite wines. But as ever, up to you.
John

Read your PM, John, thanks. I'm good for either/both of those dates. Exciting to finally have a chance for a get-together!

Four of five of us have replied so far. The gist is it'll be Saturday 6 March from 2.30pm at my home in Bacchus Marsh.
Feel free to bring a partner [but only bring one bottle, please]. And please bring a cheese plate or similar small dish to suit your wine.
So far the wine types we have are:
1 Reisling [Jan]
1 Either variety {Softie] ... so we have 2-3 bottles of each varietal assuming five attendees [Softie]
2 Undeclared [tell me please Cuttlefish and my Church ... what variety you want to bring]
1 still to reply on attendance.
John

Could not find a way to attach a photo via the forum mail, so here is my bottle, just out of the EuroCave. I was due to drink a bottle of 06 Ganevat on Sunday with a friend, but both our bottles had only been standing up for a short time and the sediment had no time to settle. Just hoping this will fall to the bottom by Sat - otherwise I’ll have to find a different bottle .

Should be fine I'd say and exceed the time most of us give to stand a bottle upright.
