I went to Orange for the weekend and had time for 1 cellar door visit.
Booked and got into Angullong.

I'm not sure why but somewhere in my head I had the impression that they were a cheap and low quality winery.
I had a glass with dinner the night before and quite enjoyed it.
The tasting was certainly not low quality.

They have 3 ranges - A series (drink now), Fossil Hill and a couple of reserve wines.
I tried there Fossil Hill and reserve range.

The whites were well made but only ok.
The reds really stood out - In the Fossil Hill they had a Sangiovese, Barbera, Sagrantino, Tempranillo, Shiraz Viognier all $28 a bottle.
I was really impressed. The cool climate Sh/V was very good with my next favourites the Barbera and Temp.

Has anyone had any of their wines before?
The cellar door is in Millthorpe about 20 mins out of Orange.

I'm a fan - been buying them continually for about 5 years now.

I think their Italian varietal wines are better than the others (for my taste, which tends towards the more savoury), and their Vermentino is very good (one of Australia's best IMO).

But in all honesty, I'd prefer they remained under the radar, as they are currently attractively priced! Some Orange wineries are getting more exposure and a greater reputation now (and good for them), but it means the prices often increase.
