Southcorp 2004 Vintage Summary

Post by Baby Chickpea »

The Southcorp 2004 Vintage summary is now online.

They make some interesting observations regarding the quality the super premiums and Coonawarra particularly in this vintage.

Danny

I have noticed that you haven't posted any tasting notes recently.
Are you on an alcohol free month?

Your notes are always an outstanding description of the wine and I
miss not being able to read about a 1972 Mouton Rothschild or alike...

Thanks for the support Gianna.

Quite the contrary, I have had so much to drink but not the time to write up the TNs. Unfortunately work has been hell recently (and only able to duck into various BB's for two minute snatches irregularly). Next week they will start appearing again ...

Well, I shall wait to see what fine wines you have for the offering to the forum.......

I had the 98 Rockford Cab Sav tonight and it was a fantastic cabernet. A genuine earthy, savoury palate with deep blackcurrant and mocca.
Smooth, complex, well structured and a long aftertaste.
Tannins still integrating and my thoughts are it has about 2-4 years of improving before reaching its peak and should hold for several years after that. I can't quite describe this wine properly as it is a different style of cabernet (perhaps because it is a Barossa Cab?? not too sure..).
Not as heavy as some other cabernets. - Nevertheless, Fabulous value, and I give it ***** for being priced under $40

Would have liked to have tried some of the bottle tomorrow, but alas, none left. You know how it goes....
