Deep purple in colour, and quite dense. Although developed, there's a surprising amount of dark fruits on the nose, along with the trademark earthiness. There's also cocoa and a touch of nutmeg and spice.
The palate is quite rich, but not overpoweringly so. There's a touch of viscosity, and the texture is syrup-like. There's lots of black jam and a little tar, some vanilla and moderately grippy but integrated tannins. The finish is reasonably long, and quite savoury.
Probably not likely to improve (at 10 years old!) and very satisfying now.
