TN: Howard Park Mount Barker Riesling 2019
Posted: Sat Apr 18, 2020 8:53 pm
Fruit sourced from the company's Mount Barrow vineyard at the north eastern end of the Great Southern region.
Pale straw in colour. Intense citrus nose, with lime, grapefruit and green apples leaping out of the glass. Some floral blossoms as well, and maybe a touch of mandarin peel.
The palate is delightful - sometimes young Rieslings can have overly prominent acid, but this is nicely balanced against the juicy lime fruit, which, though intense, is not in the least tart. Long and clean finish.
I know from experience that these wines age well. Sometimes they need a little time in bottle to settle down. At a year old, this is very drinkable now.
Cheers
