TN: Picardy Pinot Noir 2010

Post by Waiters Friend »

The 'standard' model, not the Tete du Cuvee.

Pale garnet in colour. Spicy and fragrant nose, with strawberry and cherries, moderate charry oak, nutmeg and five-spice. The fruit flows gently over the palate, with soft and integrated tannins and supporting acid all in balance. The finish is the typical 'fantail' - spreading out as it leaves the mouth.

This is in good condition for a 10 year old wine. Classy pinot, and an ideal accompaniment to tonight's confit duck.

Cheers

I’ve been drinking a lot of their 1999 which is to my liking. I’ve also enjoyed their cab and Shiraz. I like the company style.

This was a discovery in the cellar - an overlooked wine in amongst some younger bottles.

My last bottle tonight, and in very similar condition to the 2020 tasting note. If anything, slightly paler colour. Fruits, oak and spices all in balance, and tannins have almost totally dissipated.

Surprisingly good, especially for a 13 year old wine. The Pannells know how to make Pinot Noir.
