Purchased from the winery in 2012. Largely left alone since. This is my second-last bottle.

Crimson and lightening in colour. Reasonably intense nose with dark plums, blueberries, vanilla, white pepper, five spice and mocha from oak. The palate is quite fruit dominant, with refreshing but not high acid, integrated tannins (hardly noticeable), and a slight viscosity (possibly alcohol as much as glycerols). Medium to full bodied, and a very long finish.

I'll see if I can hold off on the last bottle for another few years. This is too young.

Cheers
Allan

Hi Allen,

Drank my last 2002 a month ago, even that looked young!

Unfortunately, I didn't hold off on opening my last bottle, and the notes are virtually identical to last year. Maybe this is the best time to be drinking it, however. It is superb, and I don't regret opening it. This provokes the discussion about when the peak or optimum is, not specifically for this wine, but generally.
