TN: Cape Mentelle Chardonnay 2002

Had this at lunch recently, and I was impressed. Thout it was worth a brief note:
Straw with green tinges. Nose of cashew, white peach and lemon. Palate starts the same way, white peach, melon and pineapple fruit, underpinning mealy oak. The acid is tingly and almost spritzy, giving the mid palate a freshness and lift. Great expression, great length, great wine. Trim, taut and terrific.
With slightly more weight, it sits beside the Voyager of the same vintage as an outstanding effort. $33 is buying you a classy wine here,
cheers
