Deep purple in colour. The nose is rich and ripe, with lots of dark fruits (blackberries, blueberries), with vanilla, cloves, tobacco, and sweet oak. The palate is full, with the fruits washing over the palate. There's reasonable supporting acid, dusty and mostly integrated tannins, and good supporting acid. Alcohol sits in the background, and the wine finishes long and full. A well balanced wine that there is no rush to drink up.

Some development now three year later. The dark fruits are still prominent on the nose, but more of the tobacco and savoury notes have come to the fore. However, the palate is still awash with primary and secondary berry fruits, and all the better for it. Tannins have fully integrated, and there's some dark chocolate evident as well.

At its peak, but will hold a year or three more.

Another note 18 months on. Fruits are moving into the red spectrum, and the savoury and tertiary characters are dominant now. Smooth tannins, cocoa powder, and a lovely blend of developed fruits and cigars on the palate. Long finish. Drink soon, however.

Cheers
