TN: Plantagenet Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

This Great Southern vineyard has been producing the goods for over 40 years. I did a vertical of their Shiraz back in 2017 (http://forum.m.auswine.com.au/forum3/viewto ... ab#p142932), but the Cabernets are no slouch either. The last time I tried this wine (and this vintage) was a surprise "by the glass" offering in a Perth restaurant a year ago. This is my last full bottle.
Bearing in mind this has been another 38 degree day in Perth, it has come straight from the 17 degree cellar, and been decanted. There was a modest amount of sediment in the filter.
Purple / crimson in colour. Typical blackcurrant nose, with some black and blue berries, vanilla, and a little coconut. I'm looking for different characters, but it is very focussed on the dark berries and the oak characteristics. No capsicum, no tomato leaf, no Margaret River at all
The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with the berry flavours washing over the tongue. A small hint of chocolate (not much) and well integrated tannins (noticeable, but only if I think about it). Mouthfilling, almost teeth-staining, but medium finish only. That is possibly the only sign of age for this wine. Yes, it's developed, but the primary characters are still in the majority, and I would have picked this for a 6 year old, not 12.
No rush to drink up. Oh dear, I jut have
Cheers
