The Aberfeldy vineyard was planted in 1904 by the Birks family of Wendouree fame. Four weeks fermentation, and 2 years in new American hogsheads.
Decanted before service, with a fair amount of crust remaining in the bottle.
Deep purple in colour, and no signs of bricking. Full and expressive nose of vanilla / mocha, cedar and ripe blueberries, with cloves and nutmeg. The palate shows well integrated tannins, delightfully rich dark fruits, some velvet on the tongue, and milk chocolate. The wine finishes quite long and full, without being overpowering or jammy.
Definitely at its best now - I can't see it getting much better (at 14 years of age!) - and worth the wait.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
