I watched Somm 3 on the weekend. It's the third installment of the Somm documentary series. This is is about a blind tasting of Pinot Noir from around the world, done in the style of the Judgement of Paris. Very interesting and entertaining viewing if you like wine docos.
It features some of the highest profile wine professionals in the world, including Jancis Robinson MW, Fred Dame MS and Steven Spurrier. Steven is the person that organised the original Judgement of Paris in 1976.
I don't want to give too much away for those that haven't seen it, but I came away a bit disappointed. IMHO, the Burgundy wines they chose for the Pinot Noir challenge were a poor representation of the best red Burgundies and it kind of made the whole experiment flawed from the outset. Not what I'd expect from wine professionals choosing relevant wines for such a challenge.
Has anyone else seen Somm 3 and what did they think?

Re: Somm 3 Documentary
I saw it...definitely not as interesting as the previous two...and I was a bit disappointed in the material overall.
I don't think they were trying to showcase the best burgundies..although this was a common complaint....but they were showing different pinot from around the world against some very good red burgs to show that other places are starting to do good Pinot..and they are. It definitely wasn't an unfair comparison. This was unlike what the Judgement of Paris was like..which was to take the top Cabs and Chardonnay and match it up against wines from CA...
Before watching it I had considered buying it to watch just because I thought I'd watch it more than once..but I don't think I'd bother watching this one again...
