80% Nerello Mascalese, 20% Nerello Cappuccio. 13.5% ABV.
From Trecastagni, located at the south-eastern slope of Mt Etna @ 650m.
Another new producer for me. Unmistakably Etna, but with a difference. This is lighter and more delicate. One might say a more feminine expression of Nerello compared with the northern slopes.
Sour red cherry, raspberry, black tea, earthy, dried herbs, smoky, minerally. Very fresh on the palate and well balanced. Long finish. High tannins and high acid should bode well for cellaring if I can keep my hands off the other bottles.
