TN: Riverbank 'Rebellious' Sangiovese Cabernet Franc 2017

Post by Waiters Friend »

This Swan Valley producer has undergone a renaissance since its sale a couple of years ago, and the engagement of former Lamonts winemaker Digby Leddin. All wines are made from fruit grown on the estate.

Bright purple in colour. Dark cherries, blackberries, and herbs (sage, bay leaf) on the nose. The palate's got dusty tannins, reasonable acid for freshness (and this is a young wine), and the oak is prominent on the palate. It's medium bodied.

While this has some good fruit flavours, it's the herbal and savoury (oak derived) characters that make this wine interesting, for me. Good with a meat based pasta dish.

Cheers

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.
