TN: Fairbrossen "Side Project" Saperavi 2016

Saperavi is a red grape native to Georgia, and it is unusual in that the grape pulp is red, not just the skins. There's a little over 20 producers of this in Australia, and Fairbrossen is apparently the only one in WA. This is 14% alcohol
The wine is (not surprisingly) very dark purple in colour. The nose is showing lots of ripe red fruits, supported by spicy oak. The palate is where it's all happening, though - high acidity, very grippy tannins, and a lot of those red fruits again, even beetroot, all contributing to a touch of tartness in the wine.
It would be interesting to see this in a few more years.
Cheers
