This Swan Valley producer has been going since 1922, although the grapes for this chardonnay come from their Pemberton vineyard planted in 1989.

Bright yellow in colour. Powerful nose of yellow peach and nectarine, with a hint of melon. Cedary oak is present, but sensitively handled. The palate has a degree of fruit richness offset by refreshing acidity, and a little tannic grip. The fruit carries through to a reasonably long finish.

I've been a fan of this wine for several years, and I still think it is probably the best chardonnay made by a Swan Valley producer (but not from SV fruit). Back vintages in my cellar tell me this should reach 7 years of age comfortably.

Cheers
