Our New Year's dinner of wild sockeye salmon was supported with the Keith Tulloch 2006 Hunter Valley Semillon. The pale glowing yellow was surrounded by lemon/lemon flower scent which gave away to an almost pure lemon drink, with light notes of lemongrass and honey. The pure citrussy juice covered any minerality. We had a Barossa Valley 2006 Semillon for comparison. Drunk a month ago, the BV Semillon, from The Colonial Estate group, showed heavy bitter lemon skin/pith and lots of minerality. Note that it also had a cork closure. It looked like this Keith Tulloch model ( it would be museum release) could hold on for 10-15y more in our cellar, with a couple of 2005 KT semillon in accelerated aging mode to be tested.
Cheers for a Happy New Year...
