An interesting comparison. I enjoyed both wines, but these two vintages of the same wine were remarkably different to each other, despite both being tasted at 3 years old.
- 2015 La Biancara di Angiolino Maule Rosso Masieri Veneto IGT - Italy, Veneto, Veneto IGT (06/10/2018)
Unsurprisingly youthful colour of medium depth. Youthful fruit, albeit with a more savoury backdrop (leather/wood, though it sees no oak).
Compared to a previous vintage, this is much less edgy and really rather grown-up. Mainly red fruits, albeit enveloped in a richer (but seamless) almost malty savouriness, which gives surprising depth. A very faint spiky edge to the acidity, but otherwise a rather serious / grown-up wine, already drinking well. Impressive.

Like Musar's avant-garde cousin.
Loads of balsamic/farmyardy aromas, but with background but lifted red fruits/plum. On the palate more of the same but with vibrant, seemingly effervescent acidity.
Just mental.
