2004 Hurley Vineyard Garamond Pinto Noir

Post by Rory »

Can a top Marque Peninsula label last 14 years, from an outstanding vintage?

Found this hiding in my cellar, don't know how i forgot it, but i'll take one for the team.

Opens fairly "old" on the nose, without the fruit you would expect from a good burgundy of the same age. The palate, whilst obviously looking its age, has some lovely underlying fruit sweetness that surprised me, had pretty good structure too.
Considering all up, i think it has lasted well.

Hi Michel,

Storage is very good, under the house cellar in Polystyrene boxes.

I tasted an ‘04 Main Ridge Half Acre maybe 3 years ago that I reckon would still be kicking. Revelatory. I’ve absolutely no idea why I haven’t been buying Main Ridge since that day :?
