G'day

The Lamont family is descended from Jack Mann of Houghton's fame. There's a couple of wines they make apparently in the 'family' style (including a lightly coloured sparkling Cabernet Sauvignon) and Malbec. The blend differs from year to year.

Deep purple black. The nose is quite spicy with lots of cinnamon, vanilla and cloves. There's a mix of dark berries. especially blackberry, and some dark chocolate. There's also a touch of aromatic cigars.

The palate is medium weight, with the dark fruits up front on the tongue. There's tannic grip, but its quite silky and not grainy at all. The finish is medium to long and the whole package belies its 14.3% alcohol (or is perhaps supported by it).

This should age in the medium term. I've certainly had good examples of previous vintages at 9 years of age.

Cheers
Allan
