6 x 2008 Roederer Cristal.... had 24 on preorder, but the 50% hike on the 09 release price put paid to that

Ordered a six pack of the 2014 Barbaresco.

Will most likely get a couple each of some of the 2013 cru's.

Cheers Con.

Better do it quick. I know these Cru's offerings are very limited, at least in where I live. There's only one retailer selling them. All of the four Cru's are already sold out and they said they're not able to source more.

I was told that an offer for some of the cru's will be sent out to me soon.

Just picked up a bottle of the Giovanni Rosso 2013 Barolo Cerretta - I'm a huge fan of these wines, a relatively 'under the radar' producer as far as I can tell.

I get the impression the march on prices will continue for the Produttori del Barbaresco wines. They used to represent exceptional value, but demand from the US, where they are almost always talked up, puts them for me in merely good value. I could easily see the time when prices escalate further and they fall completely off my buying radar.

I'm hoping they actually hold in price after the next few vintages. There are riservas for 2013, 2014, 2015 and I assume 2016?

Not forgetting, prices for the PdB 2013 riservas is driven by Galloni's points. The price has not changed in Italy. I'm picking up all the 2013 Riservas in the next few weeks from Alba. I'm shy of mentioning prices, but I will say, they sit about the same as many well regarded single vineyard Barbarescos- more often cheaper. There's so much up swing potential in Barbaresco anyways- can all move on if they get silly.

Hi Jamie
I can remember paying about 18 euro for a PdB riserva in Alba, and not so long ago. Prices have crept up in Italy, but by the time it gets to the UK (and I suspect more so in Australia) the escalation is amplified. Still is the allocation to a merchant is 5 bottles, what are they to do?
Regards
Ian

I just returned from overseas and could not resist a little duty free splurge:

Henschke Hill of Grace 2012
Henschke Hill of Roses 2010
Henschke Mt Edelstone 2013
Cullen Diana Madeline 2016

I also just picked up a bottle of Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2015 and 2 x Grosset Alea Riesling 2017.

I didn't know they had a Rayner Vineyard Shiraz. I have some of the Rayner Vineyard Grenache (and plenty of the Junto GSM and lots of the Violet Hour!)

Hi Michael, first release for this wine I believe, and was released on Monday. Comes from the 65 year old vines previously owned by Wirra Wirra. Had lunch coincidentally with Selina's (Andre's wife, he is the winemaker) parents on Monday down at the winery...Bondar did a little pop up as part of the sea and vines.
Really good to get the inside story on the history of Bondar. The Rayner oozes potential, will be a 10-20 year proposition...it has a great fruit profile, probably not as plush or forward as the violet hour, but really delicate tannins. Only 30 dozen made (1 barrel).
They also have a straight mataro...but neither I or the better half were really impressed, much preferred the Shiraz.

Cheers
Craig
