TN: Gilberts Reserve Shiraz 2008

Gilberts is at the northern-most end of the Great Southern wine region in WA. It makes consistently good Riesling and shiraz.
Dense deep purple in colour. The nose offers dark plums and blueberries, with a touch of leather, some cloves, dark chocolate and vanilla. The palate shows more of the same, with integrated tannins offering some grip, good supporting acid, leading to a long finish. The wine is mouthfilling without being too big, and alcohol is in balance with the other components.
It's come together well. Probably at its best now. Certainly later vintages are also drinking well over recent months.
Cheers
