TN: Ashbrook Cabernet Merlot 2013 (Margaret River)

G'day
One of my favourite small producers - it's been quietly producing very good wines for 40 years or so. Their Chardonnay and Cabernet Merlots are annual buys for me.
Alongside the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, there's a little Cab Franc and Petit Verdot in the blend. Deep purple in colour, almost black. Fresh and vibrant nose with lots of blue and black berries, fragrant violets, dark plums, and cedary oak. The palate carries the 14.5% alcohol well, and is highlighted by fresh sweet dark fruits. There's fine but grippy tannins, well integrated. The finish is long and well supported by acid and the volume of flavour.
Should go another 3-5 years, I reckon.
Cheers
