John Griffiths sources fruit from the Swan Valley (where Faber is based) as well as Dwellingup and Frankland River. This Shiraz is sourced from two Swan Valley vineyards, and is Faber's entry level Shiraz. Having said that, John reckons good examples will go for 20 years. it's a wine I first started buying with this vintage, and have bought most since then.
Deep purple in colour. Lovely nose with black plums, cloves, mocha, savoury oak, vanilla, and dark berries. There's signs of development. The palate has a flood of red and dark berries over the front and mid palate, with integrated tannins and soft but supporting acid. Length is medium but satisfying and somewhat refreshing.
I think this cost me $22 a bottle at the time. Worth every cent, and then some.

Agree, the Faber Riche Shiraz is one of those gluggable wines that every red wine drinker would enjoy whether it be the novice or the pro.

Sounds very nice Allan. I like the notes of dark berries and savoury oak, as well as the suggestion of acidity that "refreshing" implies. Sounds like it is a well balanced wine and it is usually these that can indeed go on for years.

Tried the 16 over the weekend and it was as good if not better than any other recent vintage I’ve had. Well done John.
