Not yet managed to visit any small independents, which means I have been restricted to Dan Murphy's and a a number of bottle shops. Best places have been the bars my friend John has taken me to - craft beer and craft wine seem to go together.
Drank a few bottles of incredibly dull Auz Chardonnay, medium priced bubbles and NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Still, there have been a few gems
2017 Uberblanc Riesling,Gleatzer Dixon, Tasmania
Best wine so far. Rich in a Smaagrd way, with good texture and mouth feel. Yeast and Lime, stone fruit. This is nothing like the steely, phenolic Auz Riesling I have had before. Available in the UK. 3.5*
2016 Pimpernel, Small Fry, Barossa Valley
A Barossa Trouseau. Light, almost orange in style. Served chilled it has a good texture, silky, touch of bubble gum. Very round for a natural wine.
2016 Free Love, Big Easy Radio, Langhorn Creek
Interesting blend of Fianno and Vermentino Chalk and lemon on the nose. Interesting mouth feel with a fat attack followed by a really nice refreshing bitterness. Needs some Asian food. A house to follow.
2017 Tarot, Alpha Box and Dice, McLaren Vale
Wow. A light Beaujolais style Grenache.
A see-through colour. Has some weight though. Liquorice, bay leaf. Good and would be a great party wine.
