Re: Vale Ian Hickinbotham
A deserved icon of the Australian wine industry who had his fingers on a number of early Australian wines, a great influencer of Australian wine drinking. I remember as an enthusiastic 25yo doing a wine course that he ran in the club rooms of the Grace Park Tennis Club in Hawthorn in the late 70’s. It was extremely educational and instructive in tasting various characteristics of wine (some bad as well) using a number of glasses with varying percentages of that particular character.

We never met, but we had a mutual friend who funnily enough would get our names mixed up mistakenly sending emails. Occasionally we'd get something intended for the other person and think, what the hell is this? Then have a good laugh about it and say, yep Brian's done it again!
Cheers,
Ian
