Kay Brothers Amery Hillside Shiraz 2011

Purchased over a year ago from the winery. My notes at the time were:
2011 Hillside Shiraz (14%). Despite the poor vintage, this is a quality wine. A full nose of rich plums, spicy oak, and more of the flavours that keep appearing in the notes so far – savoury, mocha, spice. The palate has good supporting acid, Christmas cake / raisin, and fine well-integrated tannins.
According to the back label, the grapes are sources from the famous Block 6 and less famous Block 4, and spent 20 months in American and Balkan oak. Certainly, the vanilla is prominent on the nose, but does not overshadow the ripe plum and cherry fruit. The palate shows grippy tannins and lots of mocha with the plummy fruit.
They've done well in a challenging vintage. Nice wine
