TN: Mount Pleasant Lovedale 2009 Semillon

A friend in Margaret River graciously saved me some from a group tasting held the previous evening. Onya Mick!
Pale straw in colour. Lovely pure nose of lemon blossom and honeysuckle, just beginning to show a touch of honeyed development and ever so slight toast. The palate is remarkable, with such "essence of Semillon" - a little talc, lanolin, a little lemon pith, great supporting acid, all in balance, and a long clean finish.
Both Mick and I have fond memories of sharing many bottles of the mighty 1986 Lovedale (still the greatest Australian white wine I've had). I've not seen too many more recent Lovedale's, and this may get me back on the bandwagon. Many years ahead of it, and this was drunk too young.
Cheers
Allan

You have a fine friend indeed. It is hard for me to imagine that there would be any Lovedale remaining from a tasting at my pleace. My friends and I would be all over the wine and there wouldn't be a drop left.
Mahmoud.

Allan, if you can find any, the 2017 '1946' Lovedale is the best young semillon Ive ever had from that producer. Superb wine, as is the Vat 1 from the same year.

I had better save up for that one!
I have a doz 2014 "1946 " Lovedale stashed away, have not tried yet.
The only bottle of 2009 Lovedale I have opened has been a waste. Way way so young, even after a couple of days open.

The 17 is really a step up from the 14

G'day Mike
A gander at the website was most unedifying - especially on price. Can you give me a bit of background on the wine? I've not heard of the '1946' before.
Cheers
Allan

unedifying /ʌnˈɛdɪfʌɪɪŋ/ adjective
adjective: unedifying
(especially of an event taking place in public) distasteful; unpleasant.
"the unedifying sight of the two leaders screeching conflicting proposals"

Oh dear. I may have used the wrong adjective. Perhaps "unenlightening"?
adjective: unenlightening. Uninformative, unclear
"the website was unenlightening in terms of providing information about the wine in question".

Allan, it's a very select parcel of grapes from their Lovedale vineyard, I'm told. The 14 and 17 are the only two releases I've had.

Sounds good Mike. Is the 2017 released to the club members yet? I know the 2014 was released early to us fans.

Pendant!
One might argue that a (public) winery website that was supposed to provide information on the taste of a wine, but didn't, was therefore 'distasteful' and certainly left Allan with an unpleasant feeling of diappointment.
This way madness lies. Next minute you'll be telling me I can't use the noun "impact" as a verb!!
Cheers

There's a couple of other things missing as well - like price.

Regardless of the adjective, the Mount Pleasant website is highly frustrating and confusing. It is much easier and nicer to call the cellar door to order. Nesha and Kate are both very helpful.
