G'day

This was the first vintage I purchased of this wine. and it's been a while since I looked at one. Deep purple red in colour, with a reasonably powerful (but not over the top) nose of blackcurrant, mulberry, tobacco, coffee and black olives. The palate is medium bodied but satisfyingly balanced, with tannins, acid, and slightly developed fruit all in harmony. There's a touch of chocolate lightly splashing the tongue as well.

Not sure this will get better. It will certainly live for a few more years, but whether it retains the balance in doing so is the question. 2011 was a cracker vintage in WA, but I'm glad I have a few of the younger vintages as well and look forward to watching their development.

Cheers
Allan

When I last looked at this wine nearly two years ago, I wondered if it would get any better. It hasn't but it hasn't got any worse either. In fact, it has hardly changed at all - "plateaued" is the phrase, I believe. In my experience, this is rare.

The previous tasting note remains uncannily accurate, and the wine remains very satisfying. One bottle remains, and it will go sooner rather than later.
