TN: Coriole Mary Kathleen 2012 Cabernet Merlot

G'day
This McLaren Vale winery produces a couple of flagship wines. The Lloyd Shiraz goes for $100 a bottle, and this is the Cabernet Merlot equivalent at (from memory) $85. The back label tells me it is named in honour of Molly Lloyd, so presumably Molly is a nickname.
This is an almost opulent wine. Rich deep purple in colour, the richness is evident on the nose, with ripe plums, blackberries, tobacco leaf, vanilla, coffee grounds, a little black olive, and a little leather. The palate continues the ripe fruit theme, with good supporting acid, solid and grippy tannins without being chunky, and just the right amount of alcohol (14% for the record). A very long finish completes a highly satisfying wine.
This will go the distance - another 8-10 years. A very good wine from a good vintage.
Cheers
Allan
