Short and sweet: I can only answer question one as question two is well nigh impossible, at least for me. Instead I will give you two answers for question one:

Most memorable wine: 1961 Chateau l'Arrosee, Saint-Emilion.
Most memorable Australian wine: 1982 Penfold's Bin 820.

Since my most memorable Australian has not been accepted I will choose one for question two, however with a Tardis, not without it:

The 1983 Penfold's Grange sometime in the far distant future when it really will be ready.

What year did you have the 1982 820?
I had a bottle from cellar door ten years ago that was delightful and perfumed for 20 minutes then faded.

1 - Agree with Ozzie about Mugnier but I’ll have to go with the 1993 De Vogue – Bonnes Mares.

2 – A pristine bottle Giacosa red label from the 60’s or 70’s.

1993 vogue bonnes mares 2 years ago purchased in NZ thrilled a table of burgundy drinkers
However I hear the 1993 Vogue Musigny is not ready yet!
Any ideas on the Musigny?

It was in 2004, making it 22 years old, and it was marvellous.

Had the 1994 Chris Ringland Three Rivers last Christmas.
It was a huge dense and powerful wine, liquorice and dark berry, very Grange like.

Agree any first growth would be awesome...even for a pleb like me a shit vintage would do.

1. C. Marey & Liger Belair Musigny GC 1947 - Wow OK so this is why we have cellars and pay four figures plus for bottles of wine. Life changing stuff.

Yes pretty concentrated stuff..
I was fed 3/4 of a bottle while the sommelier i was with sat on 60 ml for 2 hours.

Plenty of others but the finish from this is still lingering in my mind.

2. 1982 Château Mouton Rothschild.
So much hype and craziness around this wine. Any first growth from that vintage would do.
Surely for the price tag it WOULD disappoint?

Hmm I'm not especially excited about putting wines on a pedestal, but here goes:

Most memorable would probably be an old Chateau Chalon as it's a taste that is still very memorable years later, but let's discount that as it was very much in the 'interesting' rather than 'enjoyable category. So I guess I have to plump for an Avignonesi vin santo (don't recall the year) which is certainly the most intensely enjoyable wine I've tasted.

One I'd like to try? I'd have to say a German riesling TBA. Despite buying two halves from auction a few years ago, I never got to try them, as a friend took delivery for me, but before I got to pick them up, he had a diabetic friend round who found themselves in difficulty without insulin and he had no sugar in the house - before he remembered the TBAs. So I never did get to try one, and have yet to see any more at the sort of price I got them for. C'est la vie.

Really, a diabetic without insulin, in a house without anything other than a TBA?

Remiinds me of when my sister was in Rome and bought me a special bottle of wine. Because my sister was not going to be in Edmonton for a few months, her friend's father, who happened to be in Rome and was heading back to Canada, offered to take it. He comes through Edmonton on his way north and does nothing. He drinks it. Apparently he had some friends over and he "accidentally" opened the bottle. Fast forward a couple of years when I met him and his daughter at a dinner at my aunt's place he tells me the same story. Politely, I listen, nod, and ask him what was the wine. "I don't remember, but it was really good." My sister didn't remember the wine as it was recommended by the store. This is the sister who sent me a bottle of Palmer's second wine, a 1986 Reserve du General (now called Alter Ego) so it is left to my imagination as toi what it was.
