G'day
Howard Park has made its Great Southern Riesling since 1986. It added a Porongorup riesling to the range around the start of this decade. I held a vertical of the Great Southern rieslings a couple of years ago (http://w.auswine.com.au/forum3/viewtopi ... 48#p123836), and remain a fan of this wine. I bought a 6 pack of the 2016 without having tasted it, and am trying it for the first time now.
Pale straw colour. Intense but not harsh lime and lemon aromas wafting out of the glass. There's also some florals accompanying the citrus, some Granny Smith apple and some talc. It's a balanced nose, in that there's intensity and delicacy at the same time.
The palate is mouthwatering - a clean but again not overpowering line of acid runs down the middle, and the fruit flavours bounce over the palate. A hint of apple-like tartness. Good length and clean finish.
This wine has become an annual purchase, and the 2016 is well and truly maintaining the standard.
Cheers
Allan

Wine, women and song. Ideally, you can experience all three at once.

Purchased the last 3 vintages & will do the same when I see the '16. Competitively priced. It has replaced Steingarten which has slow profile here, currently.

Almost a year on from the previous TN, and most of the previous comments still hold. Colour has darkened slightly. There's no hint yet of kero development. There's still lime lemon and florals on the nose, and my comment about intensity and delicacy still stands.
The palate now shows more pure lime juice than previously, and is possibly starting to show the merest hint of bottle development.
One for the long haul - should easily see 10+ years.
Cheers
