Today I made my annual purchase of a dozen PV rieslings. I drink a couple young, then cellar them - trying one each year or so over a decade (or more). This year, it's the 2016s.

This appears a fraction darker than the 2015 did a year ago. pale lemon yellow in colour, clear and bright. The nose is redolent of lemon/lime, lemon blossom, talc and is quite floral. The palate is less obviously acidic than some other rieslings - hardly soft, but not zingy. The lemon character does not overpower the acid, but matches it. Some minerality too. Slightly short finish (in comparison to other vintages).

These rieslings (especially under screwcap) age superbly (see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14940&p=131036&hilit=pewsey+vale+riesling#p131036) but I suspect this may not be a highlight of a future vertical tasting. Time may prove me wrong, however.

Cheers
